Sir Joseph Dimsdale, 1st Baronet

Sir Joseph Cockfield Dimsdale, 1st Baronet, PC, KCVO, Bt was a distinguished public figure[1] in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.

He was born on 19 January 1849[2] and educated at Eton.

He was a Member of Parliament (MP) for the City of London from 1900 until 1906, Sheriff of London for 1893 and Lord Mayor of London for 1901.[3] He carried the crystal sceptre of the City of London in front of Edward VII at his Coronation.

A Past Grand Warden of the Freemasons of England, he died on 9 August 1912.[4]
